St. Otteran's Hospital, Waterford

Extensive refurbishment works are now underway at the old St. Otteran’s Hospital in Waterford City. Built in 1834 and opened as a lunatic asylum in 1835, its listed in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Ireland, as a monumental composition of national importance attributable to Francis Johnson (1761 - 1829) and William Murray (d. 1849), and forms a landmark site in the south suburbs of Waterford City.
Works will comprise of the #refurbishment of part of the old disused St. Otteran’s hospital ward areas to facilitate the construction of a new #audiology unit on the ground floor, an #orthodontic unit will be constructed on the first floor which will include treatment areas, #radiology, a #decontamination unit, offices, and staff facilities. The #ophthalmology unit will be housed across 2 floors. Works will also include a new 2-storey entrance area extension, 42 car parking spaces, associated disabled parking, universal access throughout, and landscaping.
We look forward to working with our client, the Health Service Executive and Design Team consisting of, RKD, Malone O'Regan, Nolan Construction Consultants,ORS, Chris Mee Group, over the course of this project.
